New light shone on Aboriginal history

New evidence has surfaced showing Aboriginal people have existed longer in Australia than previously thought.

This new discovery by archaeologists of what they think are the world’s oldest stone axes and ochre crayons (used for art) now means Aboriginal people have been in Australia for at least 65,000 years.

The research was published in the journal Nature. This now cements Aboriginal people as the world’s oldest continuous civilisation and raises new debates about their place in modern day Australia.
